Top Stories - Sept. 1, 2016 CBS All Access Rolls Out Commercial-Free Option CBS made good Wednesday on its promise to offer customers a commercial-free option for its over-the-top CBS All-Access service, rolling out the offering for $9.99 per month.  more WHY THIS MATTERS: Commercial-free doesn't necessarily mean ad-free for all content. CBS said subscribers to the plan will still have to watch commercials in live streaming content of local CBS TV stations, and select on-demand shows will still include promotional interruptions. FCC to Restart Spectrum Auction Sept. 13 The FCC said Wednesday that it will launch Stage 2 of the broadcast incentive spectrum auction -- new rounds of reverse-auction bidding -- Sept. 13 and at the expected new, lower clearing target of 114 MHz. more WHY THIS MATTERS: That will mean nine paired blocks of spectrum, down from 10 paired blocks in the initial 126-MHz clearing target, representing a total of 90 MHz up for bid. One World Says MFN Clause Last Straw in Dish Deal Claiming that a required provision for "most favored nation" status in its carriage contract was unacceptable, sports network One World Sports said it has opted not to renew its five-year carriage deal with Dish Network and its OTT service Sling TV. more WHY THIS MATTERS: Saying it objects to MFN provisions in general because they "limit a network's ability to expand in a rapidly changing marketplace," One World called Dish's MFN terms "imbalanced relative to the network's carriage."
