Apple has begun tackling its backlog of Apple Watch orders, announcing that consumer orders placed through May for all models but one will ship to consumers in two weeks, when the company will also begin selling some models though Apple's brick-and-mortar stores.
Search engine pioneer Lycos announced its entry into the wearables category with Lycos Life, a line of products the company called "a single point of entry into users' digital lives." The first two devices, a smart wristband and a smart ring, combine the monitoring of key biometrics with hands-free smartphone control using the Lycos Life app. Both devices allow users to automatically monitor their activity, sleep, heart rate, incoming calls, messaging and other notifications from their phones.
Even if you don't have kids, the odds are you've heard of Minecraft if only because Microsoft acquired the game's independent developer Mojang for $2.5 billion last year. Because many people play Minecraft for free, and share it with friends, there are more than 100 million registered users who have played the open world brick-building game since it launched in open beta in 2009. That's a huge global audience for Spanish tech company Now Computing to tap into, with its new Gameband+Minecraft wearable gaming wristband.
