Today's Top 3 Stories
#1 Apple iBeacons Find Their Way Into McDonald's
Ever since iBeacon made its debut on the iPhone in 2013, it's been heralded as the next big thing for retailers. Using the Bluetooth low energy radio on your smartphone, iBeacon technology can track your location within a few feet of where you are and push you special deals and advertisements onto your phone as you pass by stores. But so far, we've yet to see much uptake with retailers. It looks like McDonald's is taking the plunge, as McDonald's franchises in Columbus, Georgia, have been testing out the technology with its customers. (Fobes)
Why This Is Important: It's not, at least for most sane people who wouldn't get close to a McDonald's chicken product, but for retailers, McDonald's, with its 35,000 locations, could prove to be a valuable beta test for the mobile advertising vehicle.

#2 Best Buy Extends Holiday Hours, Shipping Deadlines
Best Buy wants to make sure that last-minute holiday shoppers will be able to get that special gift in time for Christmas. (CNET)
Why This Is Important: Best Buy and Amazon are trying one-up each other in the holiday shipping wars, and both are praying that — unlike last year — the weather will remain on their side.

#3 Is This RadioShack's Last Christmas?
It seems as if the company that's been providing batteries and power adapters for decades is starting to run out of juice. RadioShack (RSH) is hitting new all-time lows this week, and it's going to be a challenge for it just to stick around beyond this holiday shopping season. (Daily Finance)
Why This Is Important: RadioShack has been unable to recover from its failed gamble in the wireless space, and although its makeovers are helping, things are still looking dark for the chain.
