Today's Top 3 Stories
#1 Americans Are Warming To Self-Driving Cars
Self-driving cars are coming, and Americans are getting on board. That's the conclusion of a new study from the University of Michigan, which found that 56% of U.S. respondents had positive opinions of self-driving vehicles. (CNN Money)
Why This Is Important: It's a race between the traditional car companies, such as Nissan and Audi, and technology companies like Google to advance the technology to a consumer-marketable state. No matter who wins, it's a matter of when, not if.

#2 Billionaire Son Suffers Stumble as T-Mobile Pursuit Fails
Masayoshi Son's inability to engineer a combination of his Sprint Corp. with T-Mobile US Inc. is a rare stumble for a dealmaker whose success made him Japan's second-richest man. (Bloomberg)
Why This Is Important: Son's Sprint acquisition was seen as an entry point for Softbank to be a major player in the U.S. market, assuming it could partner with or acquire another player. That seems less likely now.

#3 Startups Turn To Crowdfunding Platforms For The Marketing
Venture capital-backed tech startups with millions of dollars in backing are turning to crowdfunding platforms not necessarily to fundraise, but to test the market with their products. (Forbes)
Why This Is Important: While crowdfunding efforts were originally designed to help underfunded startups bring products to market, more established companies are using the platform as a marketing tool, due to the fact that these campaigns often lead to favorable press coverage, brand recognition and social networking attention that the company wouldn't have gotten on its own.

10. iPhone 6 Rumor Roundup: Everything We Think We Know (Gizmodo)

"It's not a fatal failure, although it's a failure in that things didn't go as SoftBank planned. Son isn't patient. Son always wants to be bigger and isn't content with the status quo." -- Makoto Kikuchi, chief executive officer Myojo Asset Management Co.
