EAS Not Used for Wildfire Alerts
Broadcast engineers and others in the alerting community in Washington state are asking authorities why EAS has not been used to alert the public about wildfires in the Eastern and Central portions of the state. Washington State Emergency Communications Committee Chair Clay Freinwald said, "To see that it's not being used for the worst wildfires in state history is enough to make me want to bang my head against a brick wall."

PRSS Tackling Audio Level Bounce
National Public Radio's Public Radio Satellite System is getting good feedback from station engineers and content producers for its audio level survey. Varying audio levels between different programs has long been an issue and the broadcaster wants to create something closer to a uniform standard. Leslie Stimson reports.
