#1 How Apple And Google Plan To Reinvent Health Care
Mike Dittenber had always wanted to go skydiving. There was only one problem: "At my heaviest I clocked in around 330 pounds," says Dittenber, a technical writer from Michigan. "That's above the weight restriction for a tandem jump." During a doctor's visit last spring, he got some more bad news. "I had delayed getting a physical for a while, but eventually I had to. Turned out I was borderline diabetic and right on the cusp of hypertension." His doctor warned him that if he didn't get his weight under control quickly he would need to begin taking medication. "It was a wake-up call." (The Verge)
Why This Is Important: Once dominated by wearable devices like the Fitbit, the digital health industry is soon to be software ruled as mega manufacturers like Apple and Google promise a world of communicative fitness apps, offering a more complete set of data to customers and allowing app developers the opportunity for growth and success.

#2 Satya Nadella Just Made The Single Best (And Most Obvious) Decision For Microsoft Windows
Satya Nadella just confirmed that the company was going to merge all of its major versions of Windows into one huge Windows platform. (The New York Times)
Why This Is Important: Nadella promised to consolidate the operating systems of all major Windows software, Windows Phone and Xbox, leading to a future of one operating system that "covers  all screen sizes."

#3 Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Apple's OS X Yosemite Beta Preview
Apple has a new version of OS X coming to Macs this fall, and for the first time ever, it's giving up to 1 million members of the public the opportunity to test it out in advance  – for free, and without requiring they register as a developer, starting this Thursday. The purpose of the advance feedback is to gather feedback and help test the release before its wider launch, and by opening it up to the public, Apple can likely get more input about how consumer-facing features are working than they would with a pool limited strictly to developers. (TechCrunch)
Why This Is Important: One of the most comprehensive changes for Apple's desktop since the creation of OS, Yosemite offers new features, specifically bringing iOS devices and Macs even closer together through the new Continuity features, and enhances the look and feel of the OS.
