Smith Laments FCC's 'Myopic' Focus on Broadband In a speech at a luncheon sponsored by The Media Institute, NAB President/CEO Gordon Smith lamented what he calls a "myopic" focus on broadband at the FCC, and defended broadcasters' use of spectrum by citing their "one-to-many architecture" and "service to public values."
FCC Sets AM Auction The commission has set the next AM auction for May 6. Auction 84 is open only to entities vying for a total of 22 construction permits. The auction is to resolve pending groups of applications filed in 2003 that are competing for the same frequency.
