Allen & Heath Extends ME Personal Mixing System With ME-500 Mixer

Allen & Heath has added the 16 channel ME-500 personal mixer to its ME personal mixing system. ME-500 is designed as an accessible personal monitoring solution for houses of worship, rental companies and orchestras, allowing musicians to quickly and independently build and control their own monitor mixes from 16 stereo or mono sources. The new mixer inherits the same compact format as its sibling, the 40 channel ME-1, but with simplified setup and controls. Each ME-500 can store and recall 8 user presets for different mixes, users and shows, all of which can be saved to USB. Outputs include minijack and 1/4" headphones and a TRS mono out for wedge monitors. The ME system is plug 'n' play compatible with Allen & Heath's digital mixer range and can be used with third party digital consoles via the ME-U hub.

Audio-Technica AT5047 Premier Studio Condenser Microphone

The AT5047 is equally at home with vocals and instruments. Boasting an exceptionally wide dynamic range – the greatest among all Audio-Technica microphones – the AT5047 captures the full, expressive character of a sound source, no matter how loud or how soft. And since it is equipped with a transformer-coupled output, the microphone maintains a constant load output impedance, even when capturing sources at extreme SPL, resulting in a stable relationship between the mic and a mic preamp.

In keeping with the 50 Series' commitment to purity of sound, the AT5047 includes the four-part rectangular element originally developed for the AT5040. Four exquisitely matched ultra-thin diaphragms function together (with outputs proprietarily summed) as Audio-Technica's largest-ever element, providing combined surface area twice that of a standard one-inch circular diaphragm.

Every aspect of the microphone has been carefully considered including using discrete components to optimize performance.

Useful Arts Audio Debuts The SFP-60 Dual Channel Tube Mic Pre/DI And The BF1 Ultra Hi-Z Instrument Pre/DI

Useful Arts Audio makes its debut at AES, demonstrating two unique products:

The SFP-60 Dual Channel Tube Mic Pre/DI is a two-channel Class-A mic tube preamp with a variable control for second-order harmonic distortion. The one of a kind 'Color' control provides an incredible amount of artistic distortion to make those mixes stand out. Like the Telefunken V76, the SFP-60 uses a massive inductor on the output tube. Engineers and producers are already praising the SFP-60 after the recent Summer NAMM in Nashville. Grammy Award-winning engineer/mixer Ben Kane (D'angelo, Emily King, Snoop Dogg, Norah Jones, The Roots) has been making good use of the SFP-60. "The SFP-60 is a beautiful sounding set of preamps that I would recommend to anyone who wants gear that will sound amazing while having the ability to fuel musical ideas and creativity", says Kane.

The BF1 Ultra Hi-Z Instrument Pre/DI is a completely new concept in front-end processing for instruments with magnetic or piezo pickups. Featuring an all-tube impedance converter, preamp and 2-band EQ, the BF-1 brings out the dynamics and tonal nuances of acoustic and electric instruments. Inherently Class A tube amplification in a compact and durable package, the BF-1 takes instruments from dull to exuberant while providiing gain up to line level on balanced and unbalanced outputs.
