This week we spoke with music producer Greg Fidelman who recently finished Metallics's new album Hardwired...To Self-Destruct.
This is Metallica's first studio album since 2008 and is not the first time Fidelman has worked with the band. Greg also worked as an engineer and mixer on Death Magnetic and was the co-producer, engineer and mixer on Lulu, the band's collaboration with the late Lou Reed. He also oversaw the band's live soundtrack to their first-ever feature film Through The Never.
Legendary producer/engineer Jerry Finn amassed an enormous collection of amplifiers, guitar pedals, and recording gear before his untimely death at 39 in 2008. A showroom at LA's Techno Empire contains hundreds of rare and desirable items, including a Neve BCM-10 Sidecar Mixer, Mastering Lab Tube Preamps, Tannoy Super Red Monitors, Diaz CD100 Tube Combo Amp, KLON Centaur Overdrive Pedal, 1954 Gibson Les Paul GA-40 amp, EAR 660 Limiters, an Echoplex Tape Delay, and more.
DHDI (Delta H Design, Inc.) is using the Apogee Symphony at the February ZR Live! event. Apogee Electronic's audio clarity and sonic transparency can be heard on the January ZR Live! sets by Evan Hatfield on sitar and Brian Chann on tabla, and Helen Z. Altenbach on solo cello.
Innovative pianist Scott D. Davis is known worldwide for his "Rock Concert Piano" and his fondness for reinventing heavy metal classics for the solo grand piano. Davis uses a matched pair of dual-diaphragm Sanken CU-44X MK IIs for his piano work.
When Mauricio Gargel, owner and chief engineer at Mauricio Gargel Audio Mastering, is working on music in a variety of formats, he relies on RTW's MM3 MusicMeter to ensure that the final file delivers consistent sound.
