This week we spoke with music producer Greg Fidelman who recently finished Metallics's new album Hardwired...To Self-Destruct.
This is Metallica's first studio album since 2008 and is not the first time Fidelman has worked with the band. Greg also worked as an engineer and mixer on Death Magnetic and was the co-producer, engineer and mixer on Lulu, the band's collaboration with the late Lou Reed. He also oversaw the band's live soundtrack to their first-ever feature film Through The Never.
Later this month, Supervising Sound Editor and Sound Designer Harry Cohen, MPSE, will be presented with The Motion Picture Sound Editors' 2017 MPSE Career Achievement Award. Cohen is an 18-time MPSE Golden Reel Award nominee whose more than 150 motion picture and television credits include The Hateful Eight, Divergent, Django Unchained, Prometheus, Inglourious Basterds and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. Cohen will receive his award at the 64th MPSE Golden Reel Awards ceremony on February 19th in Los Angeles.
Audio specialist Sennheiser was recognized by the NAMM Foundation with Outstanding Technical Achievement awards in the categories of 'Wireless Technology' and 'Headphone Technology' during a ceremony on January 21st. Jürgen Kockmann, who is heading Product Management for Sennheiser's Live Performance & Music business, accepted the two awards.
Hot off the release of A Tribe Called Quest's hit album, We Got It from Here... Thank You 4 Your Service, artist/producer Q-Tip reached out to Vintage King about purchasing a new console and selling his vintage API 3288. The desk, which was originally housed at Radio City Studios in New York City, has belonged to Q-Tip for five years and was used during the production of the final Tribe record.
