Two pro audio companies are among the award recipients in the scientific and technical achievements honored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences this year.
Sennheiser has always had a strong footing in the consumer audio world, but this year finds the German manufacturer taking a more aggressive stance in North America with the launch of its first two retail spaces here, both in New York City. The more mainstream site, Sennheiser SoundScape, is located at The Oculus in Westfield World Trade Center, but a more intimate, wide-ranging experience can be found at Sennheiser Pop-Up Store, at 134 Prince Street in New York's SoHo District. While it focuses on consumer and ultra high-end consumer audio ($55,000 headphones, anyone?), there's also examples from its many other ranges—from pro audio to business communications—to underline the company's heritage as a serious audio manufacturer.
