Dolby, Avid, Yamaha, JBL to Showcase Tools and Trends

As part of the third annual Mix Presents Sound for Film event at Sony Pictures Studios, September 17, leading manufacturers will provide unique programming aimed at sound-for-picture professionals, ranging from the largest Avid S6 console installed in the Cary Grant Theatre to Dolby Atmos presentations in cinema, virtual reality, and home.


DOLBY
• Kim Novak Theatre (Dolby Atmos for Cinema): Dolby will be demonstrating native Dolby Atmos workflows from two recent productions. Learn the benefits of Native mixing vs. after-mixing. Dolby engineers will also be available to answer any questions and provide the latest updates.
 • Thalberg Lounge (Dolby Atmos for VR): Dolby presents Dolby Atmos in virtual reality. Stop by Thalberg Lounge to experience Dolby Atmos in cinematic VR experiences and discuss the content creation process to achieve lifelike soundscapes to immerse your viewer in 360-degree experiences.
 • Executive Screening Room (Dolby Atmos for Home Theater): In the Executive Screening Room we will be exploring how Dolby Atmos theatrical mixes translate to the home environment, as well as listening to end user playback (Blu-ray) of Dolby Atmos content.


AVID
Cary Grant Theatre, 11 a.m.: AVID presents a panel discussion on the audio production for the immensely popular television series “Stranger Things.” Moderator: Ozzie Sutherland, Pro Audio Solutions Specialist for Avid

YAMAHA/STEINBERG
William Holden Theatre, 10:15 a.m.: New Solutions and Insights with Steinberg's Nuendo. Steinberg presents a Master Class on Nuendo, delivering solutions for the present and future of audio post, including immersive and VR sound. With insights from Michael O'Farrell and Michele Garuik. Plus, Yamaha will showcase its revolutionary Nuage system all day long in Stage 6.


JBL PROFESSIONAL
• Stage 7, 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.: JBL returns with its “immersive cage,” built into a Television-sized re-recording stage and featuring monitor solutions for the small- to mid-sized audio post-production facility.
