#1 Facebook Live Testing Mid-Roll Video Ads
The social media platform is running tests of mid-roll video ads inside Facebook Live video broadcasts from major publishing partners, Ad Age reports. The ads can begin appearing five minutes into a broadcast and must be 15 seconds or shorter. During the test period, advertisers do not have control over where their commercials will appear. Facebook is not yet sharing ad revenue from the testing with publishers in whose content the ads appear.
Why This Matters: Potentially, this could be a huge moneymaker for Facebook and publishers and another way for marketers to reach the mass Facebook audience. Vin Diesel last week released behind-the-scenes video from his new Fast and Furious movie, which Chris Tuff of digital agency 22squared said would have been a perfect time for the studio to run an ad. "Vin Diesel just hit 100 million [Facebook] followers, so imagine [if the studio runs] mid-roll ads for the film he's starring in. It makes perfect sense."

#2 IPG Creates Team Ignite for Harley-Davidson
Interpublic Group won the motorcycle manufacturer's agency review garnering its creative, media and digital business both globally and regionally. Ad Age reports that IPG has created Team Ignite, which will include employees from several IPG agencies, including Campbell Ewald. Shelley Paxton, VP, global marketing and brand at H-D did not say which other specific IPG agencies would be part of the team. On the media agency side, Starcom and Digitas are no longer on the H-D roster.
Why This Matters: The team concept has been popular with agencies and automakers, in particular, so why not create one for a leading motorcycle brand? Particularly one sold in major markets throughout the world. Says Paxton, "We were not looking at the key disciplines in silos. Creative, digital and media in my view, absolutely has to be a single strategy to live together in this day in age."

#3 FanDuel Launching Campaign for NFL Season
The fantasy sports betting brand has redesigned its web site with new features and introduced a new logo and users' "Bill of Rights." FanDuel will promote it all with a new marketing campaign to coincide with the start of the NFL season. The campaign will include online spots first, followed by TV commercials later this month.
Why This Matters: FanDuel has done virtually no advertising this year, following last year's approximate $75 million TV spending spree during the first few months of the NFL season. CEO Nigel Eccles tells MediaPost, "As everyone knows, 2015 was tumultuous for the industry. We took a long hard look at our brand, and knew we needed to change how we presented ourselves in order to reflect our corporate identity, speak to sports fans and pave the way for future success."
