Top Stories - Aug. 4, 2016 Time Warner Snares 10% Stake in Hulu Time Warner has taken a 10% stake in Hulu and has struck an affiliate agreement that paves the way for Turner-owned networks to gain carriage on a live OTT-TV service that Hulu is preparing to launch next year.  more WHY THIS MATTERS: With the investment -- worth about $580 million -- Time Warner, which also runs HBO, joins Walt Disney Co., 21st Century Fox and Comcast/NBCU in the Hulu joint venture, now valued at roughly $5.8 billion. Dish, NFL Network, Reach Carriage Pact In a tersely worded statement, Dish Network said late Tuesday that it has reached a carriage agreement with the NFL Network, making the professional football channel available to customers in time for pre-season action slated for later this month. more WHY THIS MATTERS: Dish said it has reached a multi-year agreement for carriage of NFL Network and Red Zone, which had gone dark to Dish subscribers on June 16 -- the first time in the network's 13-year history that it had been dropped by a distributor.
