• María Martínez-Guzmán was promoted to vice president and executive producer, newsgathering, at Univision Communications. She had been managing editor of network news. Concurrently, Gabriela Tristán has been upped to VP and executive producer, news production. The 23-year Univision veteran had been executive producer of Univision Network News.
• Telemundo-owned WNEU in Boston has named Pedro Castro-Amaré as sports anchor, to appear on its weeknight 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts. He'll be the station's first dedicated sportscaster since WNEU launched local newscasts last Augus, and will also contribute to weekly analysis show Reporte de Los Red Sox, the Spanish-language version of cable network NESN's Red Sox Report, airing Fridays at 5:30 p.m. across Telemundo's stations in New England. Amaré had been weekend sports anchor at WSCV in Miami.
