Amazon's Streaming Bundle Targets MVPDs As It Scales
Amazon isn't a company that likes to run its mouth a whole lot. So it was news when Michael Paull, the company's vp of digital video, had been scheduled for a keynote at last week's NAB Show. And then, what the session covered proved equally noteworthy. Instead of talking about Prime Video, which the company said earlier this month will soon be delivered as a stand-alone, separately priced app, he instead focused on the company's Streaming Partners Program. Broadcasters were looking at their future in Las Vegas last week as ATSC 3.0 took center stage during the NAB Show. The vaunted, long-awaited transmission standard could make them interactive, super high-definition, multichannel players in the new digital age. Broadcasters have asked the FCC for freedom to experiment with ATSC 3.0 market-by-market, simulcasting their content—the new standard is not compatible with current sets—to keep serving viewers as they create a whole new suite of content and possibilities. Google's DoubleClick Dynamic Ad Tool Launches on Cablevision, Roku
Las Vegas – Daniel Alegre, president of global partnerships at Google, announced the launch of DoubleClick Dynamic Ad Insertion with initial distribution deals with Cablevision and Roku. The news, which came during a wide-ranging keynote session at the NAB Show, is a step toward further injecting Google into the traditional TV ecosystem. Alegre also announced innovations in VR, cloud archiving and online listings, which will soon allow searchers to access streaming video directly from a listing. More»
