Top Stories - March 25, 2016 TV Everywhere Usage Climbs: Study  Offering another indicator of how TV Everywhere services are performing, usage of those authenticated offerings reached 40% of U.S. pay TV subs in 2015, up from 22% in 2013, according to a new study from Parks Associates.  more WHY THIS MATTERS: The Parks study found that 23% of respondents said they watch authenticated video at least once a month — another sign that providers' efforts to raise awareness of their TVE services are paying off. TiVo, Rovi in Merger Talks: Report TiVo is in "advanced negotiations" to be sold to Rovi, The New York Times reported, citing unnamed people who have been briefed on those discussions. more WHY THIS MATTERS: Both companies declined comment, but the Times reported that the price was still being negotiated and TiVo shareholders would receive some 30% of the combined company.  The NYT also said the negotiations were at a "sensitive stage and it is still possible a deal could falter." Nielsen: Millennials' Media Habits Move in Stages Millennials, the 18-to-34 year old demographic chased relentlessly by every advertiser, don't have an common set of media behaviors, but instead change the way they consume media as they move through various stages of life, according to Nielsen's fourth quarter Total Audience Report. more WHY THIS MATTERS: The Nielsen report confirms what some network executives have been saying for years — younger viewers watch and consume content differently whether they live at home with their parents, alone or are starting a family.
