Roku to Make French Connection: Report Roku will broaden its retail horizons next month by launching its streaming platform in France, 01net reported. more WHY THIS MATTERS: Roku has gained some international traction with Roku Powered, a licensing program in which pay TV operators tap Roku hardware and customized interfaces to deliver apps and services to the TV. ACA, NCTA Back FCC on Effective Competition The American Cable Association and National Cable & Telecommunications Association are asking the court to allow them to intervene in support of the FCC in the National Association of Broadcasters and local franchising authorities' legal challenge to the commission's effective-competition decision. more WHY THIS MATTERS: Cable operators have for years been subject to basic rate regulation unless they affirmatively ask the FCC for an effective-competition ruling.
