The most interesting personal technology product of the year, without question, is the Apple Watch. The company's executives who spoke on stage today at WWDC made the watch even more compelling by announcing that the wearable will be able to run its own native applications, rather than relying on a tethered iOS device. Even more exciting, developers' creations will gain access the sensors and controls built into the watch. Apple's wearable will also earn some new base functions that watch owners will find delightful, like the ability to add new watch faces, custom complications, new modes, and view more information on the screen in several apps.
The yet-to-launch effort by some major retailers to offer their own mobile payments system is looking shakier than ever after today's news about Apple Pay at WWDC 2015.
