Disney is expanding its foray into the connected toys (or toys-to-life) category with a new offering called Playmation, which combines figurines and wearable devices from popular franchises including Star Wars and the Avengers with each other to create interactive adventures for kids to explore, all without requiring any kind of data connection or dedicated console.
Good thing there is a calculator on most of these smart watches, because the number of smart watch display shipments for 2015 predicted by IHS is heading for an all-time high. Led by the new Apple Watch, IHS predicts 34 million smart watch display unit shipments will be made in 2015, a 250 percent growth from 2014.
Google is taking the definition of "wearable technology" to a new level via Project Jacquard. Named after a weaving process, Jacquard will embed technology into clothing, turning your outfit into a gadget you can tap or swipe just like a cellphone.
