Liberty Global  | Mike Fries has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Liberty Global since 2005. A 30-year veteran of the cable and media industry and cofounder of the company, he is widely recognized as one of the most important executives in the international distribution and programming businesses. Liberty Global is the largest international cable company in the world, serving 27 million customers in 14 countries and generating $18 billion in revenue. Mr. Fries is a member of the steering committee of telecom governors for the World Economic Forum and a long-standing board member of CableLabs and The Cable Center. He was named Communications Executive of the Year (2010) by Communications Technology Professionals, Entrepreneur of the Year in Media, Entertainment and Communications (2012) by Ernst & Young, and Industry Leader of the Year (2010, 2013) by Digital Europe. In June 2011, Mr. Fries was inducted into the Cable Television Pioneers Association. An active philanthropist, he is a trustee or sits on the advisory boards of several educational and civic organizations including Teach for America, Wesleyan University, the Denver Film Society and the Denver Museum of ContemporaryArt. |
