by Kelleigh Welch Riding off the success of his first edition, author Jake Brown recently released Behind the Boards II, the second volume of accounts by record producers and engineers on the making of some of music's greatest hits, offering a mix of interviews and narration that reveal how famous songs like The Eagles' "Hotel California," Elton John's "Rocketman," and Lou Reed's "Take A Walk On The Wild Side" were created.
"A lot of people get caught up in the technology and can end up losing the soul of the song. The listener doesn't care if you used a $20,000 microphone or whateverthey want something they can relate to and that hits them right in the heart.
