Description Distributing video programming via IP is a major part of any entertainment delivery operation today. Full-reference testing is the most accurate method for assessing changes in video quality between source video and the downstream version however, performing reference-based testing in the IP domain is not simple.
A new methodology for measuring video quality in the IP domain is based on the concept of reducing resolutions, but more importantly, using the target device to create a mezzanine reference video sequence so as to minimize the artifacts and/or degradations that may result without this method.
This paper will explore and explain this new methodology along with providing a step by step explanation of this new technique.
