| | Movers & Shakers | • Fernando del Rincon, who reached a new contract with CNN en Español in late October 2014 following a two-week stalemate that kept him off the cable TV network, will now be seen in the entire 10-p.m. hour as Conclusiones is extended from 30 minutes, effective January 26. Rincon will now be based in Miami, relocating from Atlanta.
• Chiqui Cartagena has taken the position of vice president in Univision Communications’ political and advocacy group. She will continue to be based in New York, where she has served as vice president of corporate marketing since joining the company in 2011. Cartagena’s resume includes stints as VP of business development for Story Worldwide and, prior to that, as managing director of Hispanic ventures at Meredith.
• Andrew Deschapelles has joined Telemundo’s KTAZ-Channel 39 in Phoenix and simulcast partner KHRR-Channel 40 in Tucson as VP of sales. He joins what’s billed as Telemundo Arizona after spending the last 24 years at Univision’s Phoenix operations, most recently as director of sales of Univision’s KTVW-Channel 33.
• Arlena Amaro joins Telemundo’s KVDA-Channel 60 in San Antonio, Texas, as co-anchor of its 4:30-p.m., 5-p.m. and 10-p.m. weekday newscasts. Amaro will be paired with Alex Hernandez, who continues at the anchor desk. Amaro was previously a general assignment reporter for Univision’s WLTV-Channel 23 in Miami.
• Miguelángel López has become news director of Telemundo’s KTLM-Channel 40 in McAllen-Brownsville-Harlingen, Texas. López was formerly executive producer of the station’s newscasts. |
