New Webinar: Transitioning from "Best-Effort" to "Carrier-Grade" Wi-Fi Networks

REGISTER TODAY!

Amdocs and Rethink Technology Research recently completed global research on the transition from "best-effort" to "carrier-grade" Wi-Fi networks among Multiple Service Operators (MSOs) and Mobile Network Operators (MNOs). This trend is in response to new end-user expectations for improved capacity and quality for "everywhere" content, and the need to support new revenue streams.

According to the research, operators realize that “carrier-grade’ Wi-Fi will become a requirement in order to generate new revenue streams dependent on a higher quality of experience (QoE). This higher QoE is necessary for services such as TV everywhere, online gaming, HD video and voice over Wi-Fi services. The survey also highlights the need for tools to enable carrier-grade Wi-Fi network planning and performance management.

Key findings include:

· Carrier-grade Wi-Fi hotspots will grow from 14 % today to 72 % of overall Wi-Fi hotspots by 2018
· 85 % of the operators surveyed plan to invest in carrier-grade Wi-Fi by 2016
· Two-thirds (65%) of respondents placed the lack of strong network planning and management tools in their top three risk factors for investing in carrier-grade Wi-Fi

Join Carolyn Gabriel, co-founder, Rethink Technology Research; and Ken Roulier, CTO, Amdocs Cable & Satellite, to learn more about the research and what it can mean for you.
