Movers & Shakers
Meara Abramson Valenzuela was promoted to senior vice president, planning and strategy at NBCUniversal’s Hispanic Enterprises and Content Division. She adds responsibilities for Telemundo, NBC Universo and Telexitos. Formerly VP of advertising sales planning, Meara has been with NBCU since 2004, working in the Ad Sales Finance and Pricing Group with a focus on MSNBC and CNBC.

Roberto Perez has been appointed senior director of marketing and distribution for the U.S., Mexico and Canada at Alterna’TV, the subsidiary of Miami-based Eutelsat Americas. Perez will be responsible for increasing carriage and enhancing market penetration for its suite of channels. The Caracas, Venezuela, native had been a retention consultant for DirecTV in Southern California. Prior to that, he served as director of Hispanic marketing for Comcast.

•WKAQ, the Telemundo-owned station in San Juan, Puerto Rico, promoted Lourdes Davila to vice president, sales, from local sales manager. She had joined WKAQ’s advertising department in 1987.

Rodrigo Arana has joined Telemundo’s WSNS in Chicago as sports anchor for its 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. weeknight newscasts. Arana was previously a Mexico City-based reporter with Fox Sports Latin America.

Yazaira López, representing Puerto Rico, has won the inaugural season of Univision singing competition show Va Por Tí, obtaining 43% of the viewer vote. She will receive a recording contract with Warner Music Latina and a $50,000 prize.
