No matter how high-tech and reliable AV hardware gets at either end of the line, the cables connecting the boxes are frequently the weak link in the whole operation. If it goes bad, not only will it make everything else look or sound bad (or quit looking and sounding completely) but it is often difficult to track down cabling problems.
