• Univision Communications has appointed Kevin Cuddihy president of local media and has named Jessica Rodriguez chief marketing officer. Both Cuddihy and Rodriguez are based in New York and report to CEO Randy Falco. Cuddihy was previously president of Univision Television Group (UTG) and, prior to that, served as EVP of TV advertising sales for Univision Local Media; Rodriguez was formerly EVP of program scheduling and promotions.

• Olympusat, an owner and distributor of Spanish-language pay TV networks in the U.S., has named Mauro Panzera chief operating officer. Panzera served as senior director of multicultural marketing for Comcast from 2002 to 2009. He has also held the role of VP of Hispanic marketing for SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

• Veteran Latin pop singer Olga Tañon will serve as a "School Director" and judge on Telemundo's forthcoming reality music competition Yo Soy el Artista. Mario Quintero, lead singer of regional Mexican act Los Tucanes de Tijuana; KLAX-FM "97.9 La Raza" in Los Angeles morning host Stephanie "La Chiquibaby" Himonidis; and Latin pop star Luis Fonsi have also signed on as judges. Fonsi will also serve as a vocal adviser to the contestants. The series bows in September, with a winner named 13 weeks after contestants reside together in a performing arts school and dormitory. As reported in the April edition of HTU, Telemundo and Spain's Reset TV partnered to jointly own, develop, and produce the reality series, based on "an original concept" from Spain's Reset TV. Managing director and executive producer Toni Cruz and José Maria Mainat are overseeing the program's joint development, production and distribution with Telemundo.

• Fresh off her co-hosting duties for Univision's Premios Juventud on July 17, Televisa morning show host Galilea Montijo has been named to host Va Por Tí, a singing competition show co-produced by Univision and Televisa set to air Sundays at 8 p.m. ET, starting Sept. 7, on Univision. Judges include former RBD bandmember Dulce María, entertainer and singer Jencarlos Canela and regional Mexican recording artist Larry Hernandez.

• Former Nuestra Belleza Latina winner and co-host Alejandra Espinosa has agreed to host Banda, the forthcoming music-based reality competition show from Simon Cowell's Syco Entertainment and FremantleMedia Latin America set to debut in 2015 on Univision. Contestant bands were recruited from across Latin America to vie for a Sony Music Latin recording contract.

Marjorie De Souza, most recently seen as a villain in the telenovela Amores Verdaderos, has taken the lead role in Hasta el Fin del Mundo, Univision's newest primetime telenovela. The series, airing weeknights at 9 p.m. since Aug. 18, is De Souza's first in the protagonist role. Her co-star is Mexican recording artist and actor Pedro Fernandez (Cachito de Cielo).

Omar Moynelo has resurfaced as host of Mega TV's El Arañazo (The Big Scratch), airing weeknights at 9 p.m. Moynelo in late April stepped down as host of TN3, America TeVe's Miami-based current-events chat show. El Arañazo will offer a mix of "humor and intelligence" by mixing interviews and roundtable discussions with sketch comedy, Mega TV owner SBS said. It replaces a short-lived variety program that paired entertainer Felipe Viel with Havana-born Grammy-winning singer and composer Albita. Albita and Viel took the 9 p.m. slot in late April, when Mega TV announced it had hired the singer to replace veteran Latin recording act Charytín after less than a year on the air.

Jorge Saldana has returned to host the second season of the Mexican musical nostalgia program Anoranzas, which airs Saturdays at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT on Canal Once, the Mexican public broadcasting network owned by the Instituto Politécnico Nacional. The new season debuted Aug. 2, with concerto artists performing waltzes and boleros from veteran Mexican performers.

• ESPN Deportes has selected Luis Alfredo Alvarez to host Reportajes Especiales, a new, monthly program featuring special reports on athletes of relevance to the Hispanic sports fan. The first installment, which aired Aug. 7 at 7:30 p.m., featured a profile of Joe Gaetjens, a U.S. soccer player whose career was adversely affected by political strife in Haiti. In related news, ESPN Deportes has added a weekend edition of its Nación ESPN interactive sports talk show. David Faitelson and Adriana Monsalve, who helm the weekday broadcasts, will also share hosting duties for the weekend edition.
