Standardizing AoIP is Enabling Interoperability
Broadcast mixing console manufacturers began implementing Audio-over-Internet Protocol transports over a decade ago, but with no standards in place, one brand was typically unable to network with another. That is now changing, and with the advanced capabilities and broader implementation of newer protocols, plus the publication of the AES67-2013 standard late last year, true interoperability could soon be a reality.

Audio Loudness Remains a Hot Topic
It's been nearly four years since Congress passed the CALM Act. TV Technology asked a number of major industry players for their views on this subject, including Chris Shaw of Cobalt Digital, Andrew Sachs of Volicon, Martin Winsemius of Wohler, Peter Pörs of Jünger, and Tim Carroll of the Telos Alliance.

FCC Votes to Streamline Tower Rules
The order adopted at the FCC's meeting on Friday will improve lighting outage notification requirements, standardize repair timelines and harmonize FCC requirements to maintain painting with FAA guidelines.
