NAB Comments on Electronic Public Files for Radio
In response to a petition for rule making filed on July 31st, 2014 by the Campaign Legal Center, Common Cause and the Sunlight Foundation, the NAB today filed comments in support of the fact that all video providers (including cable and DBS) should be required to post their public and political files online, but suggested that due to the "sizable and diverse nature of the radio industry there are some implementation challenges that will require careful consideration and perhaps phased implementation." MAB Honors 2014 Award Recipients
The Michigan Association of Broadcasters and MAB Foundation presented the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award, the Distinguished Lifetime of Public Service Award and inducted the 2014 class of the Michigan Broadcasting Hall of Fame August 26 at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. Also presented was Michigan Association of Public Broadcasters' Special Tribute and the MAPB Professional Pioneer Award. More»

NuVoodoo Study: Facebook Still Dominates
NuVoodoo Media Services, a media research and marketing company, has released more findings from its latest NuVoodoo Ratings Prospects Study, which drew from nearly 1100 respondents, ages 14-54, in all PPM markets to update NuVoodoo's insights on emerging social media platforms. "Facebook remains the dominant Social Media platform among these 14-54 year olds and, despite all the hype surrounding them, both Snapchat and Vine are comparatively small players overall," said NuVoodoo vice president of research Leigh Jacobs. CBS Radio and Townsquare Media have announced plans to launch the Michigan News Network on Sept. 2 nearly 20 affiliates throughout the state. Nautel announced the appointment of Kevin Rodgers as President and CEO. Rodgers, a 29-year veteran of Nautel, replaces Peter Conlon, who has stepped down after an 8 year tenure. Swedish Network Operator Chooses GatesAir for National Radio Upgrade
Teracom, a national network operator distributing all over-the-air radio and TV channels across Sweden, has chosen GatesAir for a network-wide FM upgrade. Teracom selected GatesAir Flexiva transmitters, and the initial rollout phase will conclude in the first quarter of 2015, with installations scheduled for one dozen of its 30-plus FM stations.
