Free Webinar: Virtualizing Video

REGISTER TODAY!

The video industry has become increasingly reliant on IT infrastructure for the delivery of media. This trend first emerged in the form of IP becoming a popular interconnect amongst forward thinking media companies. Regardless of the media service being delivered, IP is now dominant, radically changing the makeup of the infrastructure behind video service delivery. Until now, IP joined islands of bespoke video functionality, but the tide of change is now displacing the role dedicated hardware has to play in media infrastructure in favor of techniques and appliances common in data centers. The motivation behind this move is to achieve the reliability, flexibility and efficiency on network infrastructure that can be installed and supported by IT skilled staff with sufficient knowledge of video media.

So what are the issues associated with this iteration of IP based media infrastructure and to what extent can broadcast functionality be mapped cost effectively onto the current crop of blade servers? In short Virtualization will be explained from a broadcast perspective highlighting the correct balance of IT network and video media infrastructure needed to meet the future demands of video delivery.
