House Passes Satellite Bill That Limits Retrans
The House-approved bill, H.R. 4572, goes beyond the usual reauthorization in that it imposes limits on retransmission consent negotiations and joint sales agreements among TV stations. It also prohibits cable operators from dropping TV signals in retrans disputes during Nielsen sweeps periods.

FCC Issues $10,400 Ticket for Inadequate Tower Lighting
A Virginia-based business is being fined $10,400 for letting the lights go out on its antenna and not notifying federal flight authorities right away.

Ham Operator Gets $22,000 Fine for Hogging Frequency
A Michigan ham radio operator is being fined $22,000 for playing music and animal sounds on 14.313 MHz in an intentional effort to interfere with fellow operators with whom he had a long-running dispute, according to the FCC.
