More» Why This Matters: This is interesting in so many ways. Skype evangelist Bates was short-listed for the Microsoft CEO job that went to Satya Nadella; Bates got the cooler job. GoPro is building towards an IPO, and pulling in big guns from the land of media: Dolby's chairman Peter Gotcher (who also founded Digi) was also added to the board. GoPro is trying to be a media company, like Apple is trying to be a media company. It's all part of the video immersion that will be our future both on our devices and in public spaces. If I'm going to have to look at (and listen to) media all around me, I'll take GoPro and Apple over News Corp. –Cynthia Wisehart | | | #2 | Eye Candy: 360-degree video using six GoPro Cameras (video) | | | via ProAV Solutions | | | Jonas Ginter, a journalist and photographer based in Germany, created this stunning 360° video using 6 GoPro cameras and a custom, 3D-printed mount. Jonas attached the contraption to his bike and his car, creating what appears to be the world's first spherical panorama video. But it also suggests how this type of innovative , GoPro-shot imagery could make for powerful public spaces video, retail signage, etc. I thought it was interesting that a national Pro AV company (offices in five cities) was putting this forward.
