#2 Sony PSP Finally Retiring
  Sony is calling time on the PSP, announcing that the long-running PlayStation Portable will cease sales in Japan at the end of June, with a complete wrap-up worldwide by the end of the year. Sales of the handheld, which first went on sale in Japan back in December 2004, with a broader launch early the following year, have exceeded 80 million units as of late last year. (SlashGear)
Why This Is Important: Handheld gaming systems have faced insurmountable competition from smartphones and tablets, where they must compete with copious and free apps and games. 

#3 App Extensions In iOS 8 Will Change How You Use Your Device
  Apple announced a ton of new features for iOS 8 yesterday, but if you didn't stick around for the developer portion of the keynote, you missed one of the most significant user-facing changes. The new iOS 8 will have support for application extensions, which will allow developers to bring their apps out of the locked-down sandbox to vastly improve the experience. (PCMag)
Why This Is Important: In layman's terms, Apple is reducing the restrictions it imposes on apps. One example is that third-party apps will now be able to be used as the default operation.
