| • Alberto Mier y Terán has been appointed executive vice president of Univision Television Group (UTG). He will retain his duties as GM of Univision-owned KMEX and KFTR in Los Angeles. Mier reports to UTG President Kevin Cuddihy. Before relocating to Los An geles, Mier was VP and GM for Univision's stations in Chicago. Before that, he held similar duties in San Diego. • Friday Abernethy was named senior VP of content distribution at Univision Communications. Abernethy takes a newly created role in which she will oversee the company's distribution efforts with cable, satellite and telecommunications distributors. She will also manage Univision's digital offerings, including UVideos, Univision Deportes and over-the-top delivery vehicle Flama. Abernethy was previously executive VP of distribution sales and marketing for TV Guide Network. Prior to that, she was VP of national accounts and field operations for content distribution at MTV Networks. • Veteran actress Barbara Mori has been cast as protagonist in the new MundoFox telenovela Dos Lunas, a drama about a woman trying to cope with split personality disorder sparked by a tormented past. The show will air Saturdays at 10 p.m. ET. The program is produced by Fox International Channels, Argos TV, LUA and Cadenatres and marks Mori's return to U.S. Hispanic television after nearly a decade focused on feature films and the international market. • Telemundo has signed an exclusive multiproject deal with Mexican actress and Garnier Nutrisse spokeperson Blanca Soto. Soto has starred in such telenovelas as the Televisa-produced Porque el amor manda and the Venevisión Internaciónal/Univision effort Eva Luna. She has also been featured in English-language feature films including Dinner for Schmucks. It's not yet know what Soto's first Telemundo-related project will be. • Fox Deportes has added Mexican soccer star Luis "El Matador" Hernandez as an analyst for its studio-based soccer talk program La Última Palabra. Hernandez will also serve as a guest commentator across several of the network's media platforms. Hernandez is the all-time leading goal scorer for the Mexican National Team in World Cup competition. |
