It's like a breath of fresh air to be asked to put together a setup that is, for the most part, all analog. This is going to be a powerful rig, providing a wide choice of sonic character. Whether you're tracking and overdubbing or mixing, this tool set will give you access to a nice palette of warm and thick tonal choices. There are two components we'll have to keep digital, as it would not be cost-effective to specify an analog multitrack tape machine. A tape recorder would require expensive tape and a high regular maintenance cost, so let's assume you have a Mac in place and we'll load it up with Avid Pro Tools 11 ($699).

Calrec Audio Acquired by Electra Partners
Electra Partners, an independent private equity fund manager with more than 25 years' experience in the mid-market based in London, announces the acquisition of UK-based broadcast audio mixing console manufacturer Calrec from D&M Holdings for £14 million, or approximately $23 million U.S. Financing for the deal was provided in full by Electra Private Equity PLC ("Electra") through a mixture of equity and debt.
