As news crews "learn while they earn" in the field with liveshot units, the cellular liveshot system makers offer some universal tips on gaining more success with cellular video transmission. Attendees at the 2014 NAB Show will find these companies on the exhibit floor.
Exhibitor Carl Zeiss will supply aerial specialist Heliguy with its cinemizer OLED head-mounted displays for Heliguy's professional aerial photography platform, Icarus. The cinemizer will act as a remote viewfinder, using a wireless video-link from the octocopter.
With tighter budgets, distance learning has taken on greater importance. NAB Show exhibitor Cisco offers the TX9000 series, which features three 65-inch HD screens, a three-camera cluster and a continuous whole-room experience.
Returning cinematographer Gary Hatfield changed production formats, shooting the series on Sony's F55, partially to save money. He also really liked the F55's imagery when he tested the camera.
Augmented and virtual reality, which bridges the gap between the digital and real world, is expected to see a compound annual growth rate of about 30 percent between 2013 and 2018, reports TechSci Research.
