NAB Challenges FCC's 'Reasonable Effort'
Estimating the coverage area for individual TV stations won't do, the broadcast lobby told regulators. The FCC is proposing the use of "proxy" channels in calculating the reach of TV stations relocated after next June's spectrum incentive auction. The NAB says doing so would violate the Congressional directive that "all reasonable effort" be made to preserve coverage.

ATSC Issues Interactive TV Candidate Standard
A/105 provides for the extension of these services to second screens, such as tablets and smartphones, and provides for delivery of needed resources via the Internet path.

ITU Submits New Broadcast 'Immersive' Audio Standard for Approval
The International Telecommunications Union has announced a new audio standard candidate for next generation immersive and personalized audio systems for TV and radio. The new draft Recommendation "Advanced Sound System for Programme Production" is being submitted to ITU membership for the combined adoption and approval procedure.
