Why This Matters: I guess it's now official: Apple is behind in terms of the latest display technology/trends. Bigger is cool, again, and with small screens that means more resolution is needed. Samsung will release 10" AMOLED screens on tablets. In fact almost all smartphone and tabletmakers are gearing up for higher resolution, larger displays– while the iPhone has stayed with the 4" 1136 × 640 screen for over a year and a half. Spring 2014, should see Apple bounce back. Will all this carry over to AV products? It will dictate evolution of big LCD plants, as large LCD panels for commercial TV's continue low margin race to a market bottom. -David Keene
