| | | The Federal Trade Commission Friday launched a formal inquiry in the practice of so-called Patent Trolls, as patent lawsuits continue to rise. The FTC's "6(b)" study, will require 25 still unnamed companies to turn over information into their business practices. (Politico) Why This Is Important: For now, the FTC wants to know how such firms license their patents, the types of patents they hold, the means by which they acquire them, and the ways in which many of their cases land in court and produce sizable settlements.
