#1 FTC Begins Probe Into Patent Trolls
The Federal Trade Commission Friday launched a formal inquiry in the practice of so-called Patent Trolls, as patent lawsuits continue to rise. The FTC's "6(b)" study, will require 25 still unnamed companies to turn over information into their business practices. (Politico)
Why This Is Important: For now, the FTC wants to know how such firms license their patents, the types of patents they hold, the means by which they acquire them, and the ways in which many of their cases land in court and produce sizable settlements.

#2  Poll: Gamers Prefer Sony PS4 To Xbox One
As the release to two giant next generation gaming consoles draws closer, a new Reuters/Ipsos poll has found that U.S. shoppers prefer Sony's upcoming PlayStation 4 to Microsoft's Xbox One. The poll found some 26 percent of those surveyed online last week are likely to purchase the new PlayStation 4 versus 15 percent opting for the Xbox One. (FirstPost)
Why This Is Important: Though the study comprised a limited sample of 1,297 people surveyed online last week, the results potentially point to a lopsided battle during the crucial holiday season. The PS4 is set to launch Nov. 15 and the Xbox One will launch Nov. 22.

#3 Sony: We're Held To A Higher Standard

It's the company whose gadgets defined an era – playing music on the move became suddenly possible thanks to innovative new technology, and the category powered a giant corporation to expand into new areas. (Telegraph)
Why This Is Important: Sony CEO Kaz Hirai believes that Sony's diversity is the key to it's prosperity over the years. When one venture
fared poorly, the others supported the company, making them all part of one Sony.
