| Today's Top Stories | | #1 | Christie unveils 4K projectors for 3D | | | via InAVate | | | The 3-chip DLP projectors, anchored by the Christie TruLife electronics platform with 1.2 Gigapixel per second, floating point architecture, offer full 4096 by 2160 resolution at 120Hz for 3D. More» Why This Matters: As 3D wears out its welcome in the home, the remaining applications require wow factor or super-accuracy—which means resolution. –Cynthia Wisehart | | | #2 | BBC realizes the obvious: puts 3D plans on hold | | | by Peter Bright, Ars Technica | | | The BBC has been running a trial in which it films and broadcasts certain sports events and dramatic productions in 3D. More» Why This Matters: It's a 4K kind of day. This is kind of tangential but it's a fun, inside-ball rant on the machinations that do indeed go on at tradeshows. Maybe not as much as grumpy Franz is saying, and he is of course marketing the Arri theology. Nothing wrong with that. You can agree or not. –Cynthia Wisehart | | |
