#1 Vidyo selected by CERN to connect 20,000 scientists for global collaboration on physics research
  by Paul Milligan, AV Interactive
Vidyo video conferencing was selected by CERN to support global, real-time collaborative video conferencing among a community of 20,000 scientists from over 600 institutes collaborating with the European Organisation for Nuclear Research. More»
Why This Matters: If it happens at CERN, it matters. Having said that, I've personally witnessed their struggle to come up with a videoconferencing solution. About a year ago I saw one attempt—developed inside the physics community--which had super cool features and functionality but really poor image and latency (and proved that just because you're an astrophysicist doesn't mean you know how to deal with video). Now it seems they've gone with a more veteran provider, hopefully to better result. –Cynthia Wisehart

#2 Cloud technology: Aiming High
by Carolyn Giardina and Adrian Pennington, Hollywood Reporter
Cloud technology is being embraced by the AV industry and is providing new opportunities for integrators. However, misunderstandings about its meaning and its potential remain. More»
Why This Matters: I liked this cloud roundup from my NewBay colleagues at UK-based Installation International. It's not indepth but it's good roundup of thoughts about something that is still kind of abstract in our world.–Cynthia Wisehart

#3 The weird iPad-only school in the Netherlands that may be the future of education
  by Erica Ogg, Giga Om
LA Unified recently became one of the biggest school districts to buy iPads for all 30,000 students as additional learning aids for its traditional teacher-led classrooms. But a new series of schools being set up in the Netherlands is taking an even bigger leap forward: it's going to be an iPad-only learning environment. More»
Why This Matters: The thinking behind this school is that a flexible "always on" model will better train kids for college and the workplace where we are always on.–Cynthia Wisehart
