| Today's Top Stories | | #1 | Optical phased array (OPA): Single silicon chip projects images | | | via InAVate | | | Researchers at Caltech have developed a silicon chip that functions as a lens-free projector. More» Why This Matters: The so-called optical phased array (OPA) is integrated into the chip to allow the electronic projection of an image using a single laser diode. So far it can do only the very simplest of projections. But—it's a single chip, so it's research to be aware of. More» Why This Matters: I see your videos. Some of you already do branding because you know how and you have budget. But—and I'm talking especially to integrators here—if you do take casual video at your shop or from site (when your customer allows) this new feature is the absolute cheapest, lowest-tech way to get a quick 3-second brand identity pre-roll on your videos. Apparently you only have to make the little pre-roll once and then you can assign it to whichever videos you want. I have not tested it.–Cynthia Wisehart | | | #3 | YouTube creators can now add a 3-second intro to all their videos | | | by Stan Schroeder, Mashable | | | YouTube has added a new feature for content creators: they can now add a 3-second intro to all their videos. The intro will automatically start on videos on their channel. More» Why This Matters: This is an effort to help companies update to conferencing mics—any mic of any kind is eligible for the trade-in.–Cynthia Wisehart |
