| Radio Station Reunion (WNEP-TV) Good ole' 66th anniversary. In 1948 the Pottsville Broadcasting Co. brought the magic of radio to Schuylkill County, Pa. The company is still around and still owns the station, WPPA(AM). That was cause for a celebration. Changes at College Station WRAS (Radio Survivor) Students involved with student-run WRAS(FM) at Georgia State were informed that college administrators had struck a deal to hand over the daylight hours of the 100 kW station to Georgia Public Broadcasting and NPR. Beach Music Award Goes to Whiteville Station (WECT-TV) WODR(FM),Whiteville, N.C., has retained its title as Carolina Beach Music Association FM Station of the Year. The station concentrates on pop, rhythm and blues and beach music. Local Station in Receivership (Frederick News-Post) Frederick, Md., daytimer WTRI(AM) has had a rough life. Bouncing between formats for years, the station has survived by leasing its signal to a variety of buyers. That has run its course so the station is now dark and the owner claims poverty. The FCC has transferred control to a station broker for disposal. |
