Best of Show InfoComm Awards, Broadway Sound Master Classes, The Sounds, Guitar Center Sessions

NewBay Media is now accepting submissions for the first annual Best of Show Awards, honoring outstanding products exhibited at the InfoComm Show. Awards will be given by NewBay Media publications Sound & Video Contractor, AV Technology, Digital Signage, ProSound News, ProAudio Review, Mix, Music Festival Business, and Government Video magazines. The program recognizes outstanding products exhibited at the InfoComm Show that are new since the prior InfoComm Show. Winners are selected by panels of professional users and editors based on descriptions provided by you via the nomination form as well as on judges' inspection at the convention. You may submit a product for consideration by one or more of these publications, and you may submit multiple products. More

Broadway Sound Master Classes
The Broadway Sound Master Classes (BSMC) is a three-day event bringing Broadway's top audio professionals together to discuss the creative, technical, and practical challenges involved in creating sound for Broadway. The event includes a ticket to Bullets Over Broadway, 8-10 sessions, continental breakfasts, lunches, and a networking reception.

Legendary sound designer Abe Jacob (A Chorus Line, Evita, Rain: A Tribute To The Beatles) serves as the creative consultant. The BMC takes place Wednesday, June 4, through Friday, June 6, as part of the weeklong Live Design Broadway Master Classes (lighting, sound, and projection). The Sounds at Union Transfer in Philadelphia
Hailing from Malmo, Sweden, The Sounds are Maja Ivarsson (vocals), Felix Rodriguez (guitars and vocals), Johan Bengtsson (bass), Jesper Anderberg (keys, vocals and guitar) and Fredrik Blond (drums). The band brought its energetic indie pop/rock to Philadelphia's Union Transfer in April as part of a spring tour of North American clubs, theaters and halls in support of its latest release, Weekend. On May 9, they begin a series of European dates in Germany.

Benefit Concert for Women's Audio Mission
San Francisco singer/songwriter Lia Rose will perform an online concert on May 8, 2014, at 7 p.m. Pacific Time to benefit Women's Audio Mission, a San Francisco based, non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of women in music production and the recording arts. WAM is raising money to offer more free training classes to an additional 150 to 200 girls and young women whom the organization hasn't been able to serve this year. WAM will stream the event from its studios via Giving Stage, an online concert platform benefiting charities and causes. Tickets to the show are $10 and donations of any amount can be made at any time.

Guitar Center Sessions Season 8 Is Underway On DIRECTV
New episodes of the award-winning music television series Guitar Center Sessions, presented by Harman's JBL Pro, began airing Sunday, May 4, featuring Seattle band Soundgarden. Now in its eighth season, Guitar Center Sessions has been viewed more than 15 million times since December, and is moving to a new Sunday night time slot, airing performances each week at 8 p.m. exclusively on DIRECTV's Audience (channel 239).

Professional Wireless Systems Supports Telemundo's Billboard Latin Music Awards Telecast
When the 2014 Billboard Latin Music Awards kicked off on April 24 at the Bank United Center at the University of Miami, Professional Wireless Systems (PWS) was on-site to support Telemundo's live broadcast. This marks the 16th year that PWS has been providing wireless solutions and equipment for the show.
 
HPUMC Installs Yamaha NUAGE DAW, CL Digital Console
Highland Park United Methodist Church (HPUMC) in Texas recently installed a Yamaha NUAGE Digital Audio Workstation for recording and post work along with a Yamaha CL5 Digital Audio Console for front-of-house mixing in the sanctuary. Audio DAWg of Irving, Texas installed the NUAGE system, while Mike Mason of Clair Systems' Dallas office installed the CL5.

d&b ArrayCalc Version 7.6 Simulation Software
The d&b ArrayCalc Simulation software is a tool for electroacoustic design, performance prediction, alignment, safety parameters and rigging plots. ArrayCalc upgrade Version 7.6 provides improved room data input to define listening planes in three dimensions for the d&b xC-Series column loudspeakers, as well as the D80 amplifier, along with export functions into the new d&b R1 Remote control software V2. The room input control enables the user to create a representation of the audience areas in a given venue in three dimensions. Up to 14 flown arrays or subwoofer columns can be defined in a project file.
