Today's Top Stories | #1 | Apple biometric earpods are not happening. Why? It's a hoax | | By Mike Lata, Tech Times | | Do not believe everything you read on the Internet, as the saying goes, especially something that isn't rooted in hard facts and somehow ends up spreading on tech blogs like wildflower. It turns out that the wild rumor that Apple was creating earpods with biometric sensors included is bogus. More» Why This Matters: Well I did not fall for the biometric earpod hoax—but I could have. And I do wish they were real, especially the part about iBeacons for when you lose them. This is kind of a fun article on the anatomy of an internet technology rumor/hoax. And hopefully it's not itself an internet rumor/hoax, because I did fall for this one. I may even be helping it spread like "wildflower", as the author says, which must mean not quite as fast as wildfire. -Cynthia Wisehart | | #2 | Webcast: Anatomy of a Network, Crash Course on the Basics of AV over Ethernet | | Speaker: Dave Theis, Theis Consulting | | What is the OSI Model? How do Layer 2 and Layer 3 mean to AV Networking? What is the IEEE 802.1 standard and why does it matter to AVB? What's the difference between Dante and AVB and how are they related? What about AES67? Should I care about the subnet mask, multicast, MAC, IP, and RTP? Do I need to learn configure switches? In this course, our speaker Dave Theis puts networking language into a context that AV pros can relate to. More» Why This Matters: There is a lot of network jargon swirling around out there. Dave will cut through some of that to give you a foundation to hold your own. Networking is probably the most important thing that's happening in ProAV right now and for the future.
