#1 Sony to lower X9 prices and launch cheaper Ultra HD 4K TVs
  By Mike Wheatley, HDTV Test
A report from the USA claims that Sony is on the verge of declaring an all-out pricing war against rival Ultra HD TV manufacturers Samsung and LG Electronics, with the Japanese company set to slash up to a $1,500 off the cost of its high-end Bravia X9 4K TVs. More»
Why This Matters: It's been a week of pricemania. Prices for the high-end sets are falling fast, and Sony joins LG in announcing cheaper models with fewer features. The lower-end LGs will reportedly come with more bezel, 2.1 instead of motorized 4.1 audio, and no built in camera. -Cynthia Wisehart

#2 Samsung wants you to figure out what to do with its flexible displays
  By Darrell Etherington, Tech Crunch
Samsung is having a unique kind of contest, the company announced today, and it's not the kind where someone walks away with a Galaxy S4. The Korean smartphone maker is asking people to submit ideas around what kind of devices to make with its flexible display technology. Have a hardware startup? Samsung wants you… to figure out what to do with their product. Samsung is looking "to encourage designers, hardware engineers and entrepreneurs to begin thinking about future start-ups ideas using flexible display technology." More»
Why This Matters: Well, you could win $2500, $5000, or $10,000 depending on "how important flexible displays are to your overall design concept, and how realistic and viable both the hardware and the business plan turn out to be." So if you don't mind giving away your ideas to Samsung, enter here. –Cynthia Wisehart

#3 The Houston Texans now have the biggest Jumbotron in the world
  by Leslie Horn, Gizmodo
Produced by Mitsubishi, the Reliant Stadium screen is a made up of a series of connected boards, each measuring 52 feet high by 277 feet wide, for a total 14,549 feet of display that's packed with 5.28 million pixels. It's a whole 25 percent larger than the Cowboys Stadium behemoth, which is 72 feet high by 160 feet wide, or 11,520 square feet in all. The Cowboys still have a small advantage in that, with a 16 by 9 aspect ratio, their board can be used for either replays or a live feed. More»
Why This Matters: I love the comparison charts in this article, which will help you understand the pro football pecking order according to display size. Sorry Vikings fans. –Cynthia Wisehart
